Is Neighborhood Placemaking Your Next Step?

Can you frame with a nail gun? Design wonderful spaces? Work in housing finance? Maybe you organize projects and systems so they flow, understanding the realities of moving people and getting things done. Can you be nimble about schedules too? You have a powerful skill

So, let me ask:

~ Would you like to do projects for yourself? And yes, keep the profit your control earns you?

~ Do you want to have more say over what happens in your neighborhood, and how your projects make it a better place for you and your neighbors?

~Is it finally time to use your talents for projects that really matter to you?

The Good News:

The Neighborhood Placemakers Network is here to help you grow the skills you already have into becoming a successful Placemaker.

We Placemakers have to be generalists, always keeping sight of the big picture while knowing enough about details and systems to ask the right questions.

NPN approaches this with project-centered learnings; what you need to know to complete your first ADU is different than doing your first mixed-use building. We help fill in your gaps while always keeping you moving towards your project. It's all specific and hyperlocal to Portland, too.

And you won't be doing this alone: we're a Placemakers Network exactly because collaborative learning helps all boats rise. Our regular Networking Meetings are where we learn from visiting experts and support each other. Unlike fee developers, we hold nothing back, because we all want to make the neighborhoods we love better.

Speaking of fee developers, more good news: You're not in competition with the big developers and their big budget projects. As a Neighborhood Placemaker, you can be more nimble and selective with a small infill project.

And we'll teach you how to see what needs to be in your neighborhood, what should be in your neighborhood. We'll show you how to earn the support of your neighbors, not have to fight them like the big developers.

Here's What's Waiting For You:

Join with a free or paid membership, and we’ll send you our guide, Establishing Your Placemakers Practice. We'll take you step-by-step through growing your own personalized process of Neighborhood Placemaking. We'll show you how to listen to your neighbors and build a feed-back loop for generating new project ideas. How to set up your project systems so that they work best for you. And so much more.

You'll be enrolled in our Back of Envelope Club, where you meet with other Placemakers to practice working out the financial bones of a possible project. Learn to quickly tell if a project 'pencils out' or is a time-waster.

You'll be invited to all our NPN Networking Meetings. Meet and ask questions of local experts. Meet and build relationships with Placemakers from your quadrant, and with the people you'll need to move your projects forward.

All our classes: Join with a free membership and get access to all our classes at full price. Join with a paid membership and you get increasing discounts on our classes. You can shift from a free to paid membership at any time.

As our Mentoring Program comes on line in the future, you will be able to purchase one-on-one coaching with experienced infill developers.

If you don't want to develop projects, support our Placemakers by becoming a become a Patron!
